human genetics and ethics

While Congress will debate "therapeutic" cloning, all politicians seem to oppose reproductive cloning.  New voices are claiming that reproductive cloning--when it becomes possible and safe--could have merit in some cases as well. But the possibility of cloning is part of a broader bio-engineering debate confronting society. Our bias is that Congress should not halt this research (nor on the other hand, should Congress fund it with taxpayer dollars).  Check back here for updates on the "bio-babies" debate.

Back in May 2002, we signed the Franklin Society pro-cloning petition.
